kirsteena: (awesome spock)
Glee fandom terrifies me so damn much. The backlash from last night's episode has been kind of epic, and well done for making me hate Brittana right now, fandom =)

Pulling out of the Glee crossover bigbang because the story I had plotted out... I'm not going to be able to write now. I will rework it, eventually, because it's a story I want told, and I can figure a way round the issues I have. I just can't do it by the deadline.

Exile was awesome.

I rp with some of the most amazing people ever.

Why did I not discover Numb3rs before now? It has Peter MacNicol in, dammit! I'd watch him in absolutely anything.

So, who had the bright idea to sign up for two big bangs, then look at the dates and realize they are less than two weeks apart?

Browsing on the Dr Marten's website, because I have a sudden urge for new DMs, and found these babies.

Want so freaking badly. Trying to justify the cost of them and another pair of more simple DMs.

Nearly there...

Remember the suggestions for ideas for Winter? This was the fic I used them in.

To all the people who have snow... you lucky bastards. The one person who really wants it, and we have nada.

Ahem.

Oh Glee, why fore do you make me throw things every week? Not liking certain current ships (even though there were awww worthy moments).

To those who suggested ideas for Winter... my fic is currently 2.5k words in, and I haven't even started on winter. Yes, I decided to go for a season theme, with Winter being the finale to it. It'll make sense when I post it, honest! I'm taking ideas from most people who gave suggestions, and hopefully adding one in from each of you in that section =)

Scuse me, need to go back to writing...

Ah. The weekend of Professor Sir Terry Pratchett. Once again, Hogswatch was upon us!

Snow was forecast, but thankfully there wasn't much of it, though got pic of Stonehenge with just a little bit of snow around (why, yes, I do love living fifteen miles from one of the most recognisable landmarks in the country).

We arrived in time for the Blessing of the Sword (as a knight of the realm, Sir Terry is entitled to his own sword), then the 'entertainment'. I use the term loosely, of course, but it was amusing, especially the Twelve Days of Hogswatch...

The Cunning Artificer was visited, and money was spent (I'm physically incapable of coming away without anything from there). Caught up with old friends, delivered a wedding present ten years late (just... don't), and made new friends in the evening.

Sunday was more time with the friends that came with us yesterday, and we went to Winchester for the farmers market (yummy yummy food) and the fantastic Christmas fair they have in the Cathedral grounds every year. All in all, a brilliant weekend.

Stop procrastinating, and write, Vivien.

You have a fic due in two weeks, and actually starting it might be an idea...
kirsteena: (Eh?)
Mike got through a request for him to give blood recently (he does regularly, he's one of the rarer blood types, AB+).

It suddenly hit me. It's quite a sobering thought that I can never give blood again, having had a transfusion, just after I've come off all my asthma medication, which means I could have restarted.

Moral? Give blood if you can, people. It really does save people's lives.

I got to meet three of my heroes at the weekend.

Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Bill Oddie.

There be fireworks going off! Shame it's too wet and horrible to go to a display this year.

I made the mistake of going through my work in progress fics. I have got far too many, it seems. But hey, some good stuff should come out of it once they are completed, right?

But then my brain literally just threw an idea at me, and I currently hate it. No, I do not need another WIP, no matter how fun the idea is...

Today is a North and South day.

The Hobbit casting news probably inspired this.

It's been all go here, though I wish it was work.

Firstly, I've been to see a lot of things at the theatre. Well, one or two, anyway. Rocky Horror Show - always fun. Went to the press/opening night of Deathtrap, starring Simon Russell Beale and Jonathan Groff. 'Twas very good, and [livejournal.com profile] flip18 had great fun celeb spotting ('Yup, that's definitely Stephen Fry'. My God, he's tall.) It was fun spotting all the Groff fangirls, as they reacted to various scenes with him. Okay, I've got an odd sense of humour.

I've been writing a lot recently. I have just finished what I thought was going to be a short piece for a ficathon, which turned into 11.5k words of pure angst, which I'm actually really proud of. I know reviews aren't the be all and end all, as much as some people may think, but when you get people saying that yours was their favorite of the ficathon... yeah, I'm happy. What was it? A situational Inception crossover with Glee. If you want to read it, I'm starting to put all my fic here.

And I've just bought a Kindle, yay! One of the new 3G/Wi-fi ones. I shall probably call it Arthur. I know I have trips to Scotland etc coming up soon, and to be able to take that instead of four/five books, or scrounge off my mother and her tastes... it works for me.

Day 05 - A book or series you hate

The Gormenghast Trilogy, by Mervyn Peake. I don't know what it is about them, because by rights I should love it, but I hate it. Whether it's the setting, the characters, or what, I'm not sure. I've struggled through it - and struggle doesn't even come close to describing how I got through it, but I could not tell you anything about it other than I hated it. I first started trying to read it when I was fourteen, and got to about page 50 before giving up. Now... I get to the same point again.

Urgh. Hate it.

Day 04 - Your favorite book or series ever

Two today, because I didn't do it yesterday. Whoops?

My favourite book or series ever? That's actually a really really difficult one, as I don't really have one as such. Lately, I guess it's the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. Engaging, well written, pacy, full of wonderful characters... Yeah. That works!

Day 03 - The best book you've read in the last 12 months

I only gave it four stars on Goodreads at the time, but in retrospect, Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson was probably the best book I've read in the last twelve months. It's a hard book to read, and took me much longer than was normal, but well worth it. It's been described as the 'ultimate geek novel', and yup, I'd have to agree with that. Combining a storyline with detailed descriptions of the concepts behind encryption? Fantastic book.
