KS, ZM and fun...
Jul. 17th, 2006 01:31 pmKnowing that I needed somewhere around 11 million for the purchase I had planned to try and max out my convert (in no hurry, but worth starting), I decided to look up how to get some of the pieces I want. One thing I had my eye on was a Forest Rope, one of the level 70 RSE belts. Stats for an Elvaan are impressive - mp +60, int +4. For the mp alone it is worth it... Anyway, after browsing, I discovered it came from a KS30 at Qu'Bia Arena, called Come Into My Parlor. Grabbing a group of people who were fed up of ODS and Double Dragonian, we decided to give it a go. When you enter there is a HUGE spider called Anansi facing you (another of SE's tip of the hat to folklore - Anansi is an African god, the trickster spider). He has paralyga, slowga and poisonga, but is really really squishy. When you kill him, 8 Sons of Anansi spawn from his corpse, one every few seconds. These spiders are really really tiny (taru are bigger than them...), and act just like normal spiders. Kill all 8, pop the crate.
This battle is really easy. Our set up was nin/war, sam/thf, bst/nin (Deo charmed a son and let it fight one of the others), blm/whm, rdm/whm (main healing) and brd/whm. As long as you have 2 sleepers and a tank, I think any set up could do this. Avesta has soloed it on blm, a blm and rdm could duo it, and 4 bsts could destroy it. We didn't have a single orb that fetched less than a million (beats the socks off a 100k ODS), and I hit the motherlode with my first orb, with a D Ingot, and the Mithran RSE belt, total amount 6 million. Myself, Deo and Bernz went back for another orb, and I got the Forest Rope on my second orb, saving myself 2.3 mill in the process. With the proceeds I bought myself my Faerie hairpin (+55 mp), just waiting for more hedgehog bombs to come into stock. Not bad for a days work!
After this is was time for us to attempt ZM17 again. After understimating the AoE range last time, we were determined this time. Mages would only get in range to cure, other than that, we were basically sitting out the first battle. Set up - nin sam rng blm sam rdm. To get the exoplates down, I know that both Sar and Cy 2 houred (Barrage, EES, Sidewider generally hurts, especially when it comes after a sam self-lighting...) Being pretty much back line, I didn't see much of what happened, but E got beat up somewhat. When he finished the first form with 59 or so hp remaining we were rather glad he had merited hp... a quick curebomb, and off to the second form which was - fast. No death, smoothly done. But the finish is weak. CoP > ZM as far as CS goes. I guess if we had finished ZM first it would have been ok, but after that final scene in Blueblade Fell...
Blm is now 54, and in a semi-static with a rdm, Norrsken. At 63 we will pick up Amadeo on ninja, and maybe even marius on summoner. Be nice to level as a group. My thf is 24, after soloing through Korroloka tunnel (and being sworn at in Chinese by the local gilsellers as my worm "accidently" did Tremors on top of them...
