ZOMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!!
Jan. 2nd, 2006 10:24 amEver have just one of those days when something happens and you smile from ear to ear? Well first of all, one of those is coming on Thursday with the wedding to Pat, but yesterday came close.
After handing in a ton of moat carp (now at 3117 for those interested in progress), and getting key item for the 18 man ENM in Attowha Chasm, Aldric and I headed out to SSG to try and get his NM (Zuug the Shoreleaper) for the Siren's hair, while working off the latent on his Pole of Trials. The other NM that pops in that area is Charybdis - the NM that drops the sword I badly badly want. There are two other people there, a pld/nin and a whm. It becomes obvious that they are after the same Sahagin we are, as they are solely killing the placeholders, so we amuse ourselves killing Devil Mantas, as I certainly thought that since there was no campers, Charby's window couldn't be open. So imagine the shock when Aldi ran into Charby's room and saw him there just meandering about...
The original idea was Ehran was going to be there to help us, however he was out to lunch. So it was an immediate {Help me out!} to the linkshell to see if anyone could come out to help us kill. The response was overwhelming. Kabbie came out to tank, while others (Tsuguru, Raiyn, Endu, Kalika, Byrd, Istari) came out as well. Amazingly, noone else came by to see him at all. Anyway, after buffing, we engaged.

The generally prefered strat has a bard casting double mambo on a nin tank, but we had 2 summoners to help allieviate some of the damage. Constant stoneskin and noctoshield seemed to make a huge difference. It was a long fight, slow and steady. Towards the end Charby seemed to absolutely spam his tp moves of Maelstrom and Cross Attack, but finally

Everyone agreed since Ald and I did the work in killng the placeholders, the Joyeuse was mine - I now possess the best rdm sword in the game (bar Excalibur, which is never going to happen). As for how good the sword is? Well, that occasionally attacks twice lies - I feel it should read occasionally attacks once... Ald and I moved onto Boyodha Tree to work on his latent more, and the speed I was building tp was amazing. Btw, when he popped I was literally shaking - I was in total shock.
So, I now possess one of the three things I covet and can half expect to get in the game (barring relic armour).
On a way to a (failed attempt) at the 18 man ENM, we ran into Xolotl again, and I was NOT amused when Istari got 0.7 skill up on staff on me...
