As you can see by that exteremely large picture, 6 members of Team Stardo made it to sea this weekend – the highlight of an extremely busy weekend for me.

Friday was my first outing with Konoha, to take on Genbu. Full alliance made very easy work of him, with no casualties – congrats go to Jeniffer for Genbu’s Shield, Miaw for Keonig hands, and Sethe for Zenith Mitts. We then tried to farm for water to get another shot at him, but it just didn’t want to drop /sigh.

So, moving back to Stardo, it was a late night (for me) run at the airship battle. Set up was nin, smn, smn, whm, blm, rdm. I was worried about the level of damage we could do with this set up. The mammets were dispatched with very little difficulty (main problem was at one point two of the mammets that E was dealing with were stuck on blm, and we couldn’t do anything to change that without upsetting the hate balance). We love the recovery room between each battle though =). Got Omega to 50% and wiped – unfortunately we wiped where we couldn’t recover, so gave up for the night, with an early start planned for the next day.

Saturday we tried this again – this time exchanging one of the summoners for a samurai. The queues in Sealion’s Den were amazing – there much have been 3 other parties waiting to do various fights. SE and their lack of instanced zones…

Anyway, mammets swiftly dispatched once again, onto Omega. Having a sam/rng, imo, made things much easier – Sar was able to shoot from a distance, and use sidewinder whenever she had tp. At about 40% however, E died, so the aim was to do as much damage before we wiped, making sure we died against the back wall. This flurry of damage got him to 33% before we all died. As soon as he wandered back to starting position, we reraised, and rested up, keeping a careful eye on the clock. 45 minutes seems like a long time, but in this situation you are never sure! Ehran used his polymer at about 24%, but it wore off before we killed him – everyone was throwing all they had at him without using our two hours – myself and Hayly were in double figures of health and one more hit would have had us down but he was killed in time. Back to the recovery room and full hp and mp!

And so to Ultima. He was one ugly so and so. Our aim was just to unload everything onto him after about 60%. He has a heavy phalanx effect, Particle Shield, so rdm or brd to dispel it is useful. When Ultima starting going postal, we just all threw everything at him. Sar 2 houred, we were creating sc left right and centre to try and get maximum bursts, hp got so low that Cytherea had to use Benediction and amazingly Ehran pulled hate back off of her (advantage of an Elvaan whm is higher hp!) and then we saw those wonderful words – Sarise defeats Ultima – we had done it! Took us 39 minutes out of the 45, but who cares! Treated to a long and amazing cs which dumped us in Miseraux Coast with our shiny new Ducal Guard rings (loot the bodies – hell yeah!). Sar turned into a little hug machine, and did her happy dance for about 5 minutes flat. Next was a lot of running around to do cs, ready to push for sea on Sunday.

After all that excitement, it was down to earth, for Konoha’s first run at Dynamis. We only had 16 people, but it was always intended as a farming mission and try out more than anything. In there for about an hour and a half, and NO AF FELL. Honestly SE… still made plenty in currency to cover the hourglass, and didn’t do too badly for many people’s first time in Dynamis. We desperately need blm to get rid of the statues quickly, so that will be my next job to 75, with whm not far behind it. Red mages who are nuking, sleeping, curing and refreshing will become very stressed very fast!

Anyway to Sunday (you keeping up with this? Good). After running around to get all the various sc done it was time to get ready to push for sea. First of all we had to kill 3 different NM in all different parts of the world. First was a buggard NM in Miseraux Coast, which proved to be very weak to ice (he certainly didn’t like me and Hayly nuking it). Next was Bibiki Bay. One look at the chocobo prices and four of us went hmmm, nice day for a walk (over 5k for a bird – no way). Luckily we didn’t have to go too far into Bibiki Bay, so invising up for a little bit wasn’t an issue. The manta NM was easily dealt with, and a touching cs with the Mithran Trackers followed. So to Carpenters Landing. After yet another walk (3k for a holla bird – economy is supposed to be dropping, not rising), we went to fight the NMs we were most concerned about – the Cryptonberries. A nin and a smn NM with access to 2 hours was not something we were looking forward to. Our fears were made worse when we saw another group there fighting them with 2 dead in their party. Still, we buffed up to the eyeballs and popped them. For this, please take a blm with capped enfeebling skill – it took Hayly to Ele Seal/Sleepga II to sleep the three wandering about, and even then they didn’t sleep for too long. It was a scrappy fight, and in the end Astral Flow killed Aldric. We were treated to another cs which explained something about Louverance that had been bugging me – seriously bugging me.

Anyway, after a quick trip to Cid, it was another visit to Sealion’s Den – this was the last fight before Sea. We decided to go in and give it a try to see the lie of the land, as it were. No 2 hours, nothing, just see how far we could beat down our foe before he killed us. I am deliberately not saying too much for those who don’t want the storyline spoiled, but even though we knew, most of us had to check just to make sure who we were fighting. On the dry run we got him to 40%, but god he was fast. Luckily with our setup of nin, smn, blm, rng, sam and rdm we have a lot of damage we can dump very fast. No whm you may say, but we can buff before the battle (<3 uncapped battles), and Ald and I could cure until our damage was needed. The aim is to destroy him fast and stop him using his sam 2 hour, which would create the skillchain Cosmic Eludication and chuck us out of the battle field. To this, you can run away, stun him, sleep him whatever. Having a sam who can solo light, and 3 mages who can potentially dump HUGE magic bursts with Chainspell, Thunder IV and Judgement Bolt does help. Hayly pulled hate and died, but we managed to defeat him successfully – to be treated to a wonderful cs as you enter sea. Learning who holds the light that can restore the balance isn’t really a surprise, but it kind of is lol. After hitting sea, all we did was get a couple of screenies, then get the map, as Ald and Sar had to go. We now have to catch all the others in our group up to us for the next battles, but one of my major ambitions is complete – Sea.

Phew! In between all that I got my npc to level 46, and activated a new quest with her yay!
